The management team at EBS

A Birmingham-based IT solutions firm is forging ahead with an ambitious expansion programme following a successful management buy-out in 2021 from the firm’s directors.

Since the MBO, Electronic Business Systems (EBS) saw a growth in turnover of 20% in their first year and are on track to hit 30% this year.

The firm has been forging ahead with the expansion of its products and services across the Midlands and into neighbouring regions, developing 20 of its key Managed Service offerings and launching a new IT solution; EBS Cloud.

Recruitment has been a major focus for the business; 13 new staff members have joined since the MBO, and EBS plan to recruit 28 more staff locally within the next five years. The firm has also launched a thought leadership series, Thrive Together 2024; a programme of talks and events designed to support Midlands SMEs to improve and develop their operations through effective IT.

The implementation of a successful hybrid working model has enabled EBS to stay in their current premises in Erdington, and the firm believes that the Midlands continues to offer the best opportunities for business growth.

“We truly believe that the Midlands has been at the heart of IT and tech development in the UK for many years now; it’s a hub of innovation so it’s a great base for us to expand from,” said Sandy Robinson, Co-owner and Client Services Director at EBS.

“Since we took over the business in 2021, we’ve made a lot of positive enhancements; the four of us as directors work really well together, and it’s hugely rewarding to have shaped the future of EBS and to watch it mature into its next phase of development.”

Four of the firm’s longest-standing staff members – Sandy Robinson, Richard Bates, Simon Pritchard and Dan Price – took over EBS when its former managing director left to pursue new projects.

The company continues to specialise in IT support, network infrastructure, managed services, Sage business management and bespoke software solutions, but as part of its expansion it will offer a greater range of cloud-based and IT security-focussed services to public and private-sector businesses.
