Airdri’s Quantum hand dryer

As part of its ongoing commitment to energy efficiency, leading hand dryer manufacturer Airdri has launched its most environmentally friendly range of hand dryers to date.

Setting the bar for hand dryer efficiency, the new eco range includes Airdri’s Quantum hand dryer has exceptionally low energy usage.

It offers a 96% reduction in the annual outlay for electricity when compared to a standard dryer, meaning not only lower running costs, but a drastic reduction in energy consumption.

The Airdri ECO range features three hand dryer models that all run on less than 1,000 watts, the industry standard for a dryer to be considered ‘green’.

Quantum – the world’s most efficient hand dryer, running on just 200 watts, which means an annual running cost of just £6 per year.

Quazar – Airdri’s quietest eco hand dryer with one of the lowest noise outputs in the entire range. It runs on 1,000 watts giving an annual running cost of £50 per year.

New Quest – The brand’s popular Quest model, which is found in busy washrooms across the world, has been upgraded with a new, more efficient and energy saving motor. Going from 1400 watts to 955, reducing running costs from £61 to £41 per year.

The above figures are based on 200 uses per day, 365 days per year. In comparison, a standard hand dryer costs £157 a year in electricity usage.

All of Airdri’s eco hand dryers are designed, developed and tested at the firm’s world-leading in-house Research and Development facilities in Oxford. It was in this facility that the Quantum was tested to a motor life expectancy of 10,000 hours – a substantial improvement compared to the industry average.

Working in a way that’s kinder to the environment has been a core company value at Airdri since 1974. Steve Whittall, Group Research and Development Director at Airdri said:

“Airdri has a historic commitment to energy efficiency. In the early 1980s, we were one of the first hand dryer manufacturers in the world to innovate with environmental sustainability in mind. We’re at the forefront of introducing automatic sensors to ensure that our dryers were never running when not needed, saving energy and helping to reduce costs.

“As we come to better understand the effect that the abundant use of electricity has on precious natural resources such as coal, gas and oil, there has never been a more fitting time to consider the impact of our daily activities on the environment.

“The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy estimates that 29% of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK come directly from our energy supply, and 17% from our businesses. As our awareness increases, so must our responsibility to protecting the environment. That’s why we are continuously investing in the development of our products and striving to find improvements that can help them run more efficiently without losing their effectiveness. In establishing our expertise in this area, we have come to develop some of the most energy efficient hand dryers on the market.”

Steve continued: “To be truly ‘green’, a hand dryer must consume very little power, under 1,000 watts in fact. But not only does switching to energy efficient hand dryers reduce carbon emissions and help to protect our environment; they can save you money too.”
