Non-alcoholic aperitif and cocktail brand, Nonsuch Shrubs, scooped up two awards at the first ever World Alcohol-Free Awards, with judges commenting the brand should be on the ‘to try’ list of adventurous drinkers everywhere’.
Nonsuch Shrubs, renowned for its non-alcoholic fruit, cyder vinegar and botanical shrub mixers, was awarded gold in the aperitif category for its Bittersweet Apple & Cardamom Shrub and silver for its Blood Orange & Bitter Lemon Shrub, known by the brand as its two hero flavours – great with a range of mixers, or as the foundation of a glorious alcohol-free cocktail.
The international drinks competition is the only one solely dedicated to drinks of 0.5% ABV and below, and saw 400 alcohol-free entries from 20 countries compete in front of a panel of top specialist tasters from Europe, the US, and UK.

Judges commended the Bittersweet Apple & Cardamom Shrub for its sweet and balanced flavour and described it as ‘subtle, different – and very good with soda’. The Blood Orange & Bitter Lemon Shrub was described by the panel as ‘complex, herbaceous and bittersweet on the palate; it’s an intense drink that retains its flavours beautifully with dilution’.
Henry adds, “The awards is a great recognition for alcohol-free beverages worldwide, celebrating excellence and originality across the sector and setting a benchmark for non alcoholic drinks everywhere. We’re proud to have been involved from the beginning.”
The awards were established by former Michelin-starred drinks buyer and non-alcoholic specialist, Chrissie Parkinson and respected drinks writer Chris Losh in 2022. All Gold Medal winning products will be shown on the World Alcohol-Free Awards stand at the London Wine Fair in London (May 15th -17th).
Nonsuch Shrubs’ syrups are available in four innovative flavours: Caramelised Pineapple & Ginger, Wild Hedgerow & Rose, as well as the award-winning Bittersweet Apple & Cardamom and Blood Orange & Bitter Lemon.
Nonsuch Shrubs will be exhibiting at the London Wine Fair from 15th-17th May as part of the Mindful Drinking Experience hosted by Club Soda.
