AST Plastic Containers, a leading manufacturer of high-quality plastic containers based in North Wales, has expanded its product range to include two new high density polyethylene (HDPE) containers and a new offering made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) through a partnership with Eproplast.

The two new HDPE products are a container with a 38mm tamper-proof screw neck, available in different weights and colours, and a 20 litre AdBlue container.

The 38mm neck container is suitable for a variety of products including detergents and household chemicals, as well as garden products, pet care and various foodstuffs. The 20 litre AdBlue container, available in different colours, is in addition to the existing 10 litre product that AST began manufacturing last year and is suited to vans or trucks due to its larger size.

To date, AST has manufactured all of its products from HDPE, however in order to expand its product offering further it has recently bought shares in Eproplast, a company specialising in the manufacture of PET bottles for the food, chemical and cosmetic industries.

Buying into this new company means that AST will now be able to provide PET bottles as well as HDPE containers, giving its customers more choice.

Eproplast is a family company based in Schmalkalden, Germany and has been manufacturing PET bottles since 2001.

AST Plastic Containers, which last year saw a surge in demand for its jerrycans and containers that led to an increase of 100,000 plastic containers manufactured per month, has been based on the Wrexham industrial estate since 2011.

Matthias Hochholzer, Managing Director for AST Plastic Containers in the UK, commented: “This new long-term partnership with Eproplast means there is now a greater choice for our customers through an established leading European manufacturer of PET bottles. The product range and know-how of AST and Eproplast complement each other perfectly and there are many parallels, but also technical differences, in the manufacturing process.

“As a result of us coming together, customers can choose whether they want packaging made out of HDPE or PET – all from one supplier.”

Its quality management systems are certified to ISO 9001, and it only uses the highest-quality raw material for its containers and jerrycans.
