Organisations seeking high performance must focus on learning culture, Lernitude founder tells conference
Organisations looking to improve performance should focus less on increasing learning activity and more on creating the cultural conditions that enable people to continuously learn, adapt and improve, delegates at a leading industry conference heard this week.
Lernitude Managing Director Lindsey Flynn delivered a guest speaker seminar at the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition on Tuesday, exploring how learning culture drives sustainable organisational performance.
Speaking to a packed audience at Birmingham’s NEC, Lindsey challenged the common ambition of creating a “high-performance culture”, arguing that performance is not a culture in itself, but an outcome generated by the behaviours, habits and environment that exist within an organisation.
Drawing upon more than 20 years’ experience in the learning and development industry, Lindsey highlighted that UK employers invested £53 billion in training and development in 2024, yet many organisations continue to face challenges around productivity, skills, recruitment and retention.
She explained that high-performing organisations are not necessarily those spending more on learning, but those creating the right conditions, behaviours and habits for learning to succeed.
The session also explored how learning culture influences capability, behaviour change and continuous improvement, with Lindsey encouraging delegates to reflect on the strength of their own organisational learning culture.
The Lernitude team exhibited at the show, where they officially launched their new learning culture digital platform and offered delegates a learning culture diagnostic assessment and an interactive pulse check.
Lindsey Flynn said: “We had a fantastic turnout and some great conversations afterwards. Launching Lernitude at the World of Learning exhibition has been incredibly important because it has allowed us to introduce our business to an audience that understands the power of learning to transform organisations.
“Many businesses are investing heavily in learning and development, but investment alone does not generate results. Our mission is to help organisations understand and measure their learning culture so they can turn learning investment into meaningful improvements in performance and business outcomes.”
Developed by Lindsey and co-founder Becky Newell, who each bring decades of combined experience in workplace learning and organisational development, the Lernitude platform diagnoses and benchmarks learning culture before providing tailored action plans, practical resources and analytics to support behavioural change and demonstrate return on investment.
The World of Learning Conference & Exhibition is staged by organisers to bring together leading experts, brands and professionals from the learning and development community in one place.
