The projects that will form the basis of a bid for £25million of Government funding for Nuneaton have been agreed.

Twelve projects, designed to make real difference to the town, will be included within the My Town Nuneaton submission, which is called a Town Investment Plan.

Members of the Board met and unanimously agreed with the schemes that will now form the bedrock of a robust plan that will be sent on to Government in December.

Nuneaton is one of 100 towns across the country that has been selected to bid for funding from the Government’s Towns Fund Initiative – where up to £25 million per town is available.

The projects were identified following an initial public consultation with Nuneaton residents where they were asked to submit their ideas and around 300 submissions were made.

These ideas have been instrumental in formulating the final projects, which fit in with the key areas of local transport, digital connectivity, urban regeneration, arts, culture and heritage, and skills, education and enterprise.

The My Town Nuneaton Board is made up of business representatives, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Councillors, Warwickshire County Councillors and representatives from the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Warwickshire CAVA, the health sector and community.

Sean Farnell, Chair of the My Town Nuneaton Board, is thrilled with how everything is moving along and the projects that have come out of the consultation and development work.

He said: “We are all extremely pleased with our final projects that will form our Town Investment Plan for Nuneaton.

“We think we have a fantastic line-up of extremely strong projects, all of which will be very for our town moving forwards.

“We could not have done any of this without the people of Nuneaton, the ideas that they submitted at the start of all of this have been at the forefront of everything and were crucial to the development of all of the projects, so we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part and supported us.

“If we are successful in gaining the funding, and here’s hoping we are, we will be keeping everyone fully informed about the progress of these projects and engaging with everyone so that they can have their say.”
