Resonance appoints trio of experts to help shape the future of impact investing

Three high-profile experts have joined one of the UK’s leading social impact investors as it looks to strengthen its future growth plans.

Resonance, which has been connecting capital to social enterprise since 2002, has appointed Candice Hampson and Erika Rushton MBE as board members, while Danyal Sattar OBE joins as Managing Director of Impact Labs.

Between them, the trio bring with them extensive experience and contacts across the sector, as well as knowledge of the housing market and how to blend different forms of capital to address major societal challenges.

Candice has more than fifteen years in impact investment, social enterprise, and technology for good.

She spent seven years as Investment Director at Better Society Capital, where she managed a portfolio of nearly £140m and co-created Fair by Design, a landmark national initiative addressing poverty premiums through blended finance and systems change.

Her passion for partnership working and collaboration now sees her run fractional consultancy Forty Turns, whilst dedicating time to working with the Impact Economy Collective.

“Joining the Resonance Board is a privilege I have been looking forward to greatly,” explained Candice.

“The organisation’s mission aligns closely with my own commitment to tackling inequality, and I have been hugely impressed by the quality and dedication of the team. I cannot wait to get started.”

Erika is a creative economist working at the intersection of housing, property, and social investment. She said: “The housing market has become a key part of the UK economy with many benefitting from ever increasing values and rental incomes supplementing incomes, pensions and company profits.

“But the consequence of the market success for some means others are increasingly excluded from any access to a home they can afford and rely on. And without that everything else – health, education, employment and safety – fails.

“In taking up a role on the Resonance board I am honoured to be contributing to an organisation that has set out to change that at scale.”

Danyal Sattar joins Resonance as Managing Director of Impact Labs. Prior to this, he was Chief Executive Officer of Big Issue Invest.

Previous roles include Head of Social Investment with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, as well as holding positions at Access – Foundation for Social Investment, Better Society Capital, Charity Bank and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

Danyal, who was given an OBE in 2024 for services to social investment and business, went on to add: “I’m delighted to join Resonance and continue my work in the impact investing sector. Throughout my career, I’ve seen the power of blending capital with purpose to address some of society’s most pressing challenges.

“Resonance has a strong track record of doing exactly that, and I’m excited to help grow its impact further.”

Through its social impact residential property funds, B Corp certified Resonance works with institutional investors and expert housing partners to provide safe, affordable homes with appropriate support.

Since the first property fund launched in 2013, the organisation has helped provide homes for almost 4,000 adults and children in 1,393 properties in major cities across the UK.
