Landowners across Herefordshire are being urged to take advantage of a search for new sites for housing and employment by planning experts at a leading Hereford property consultancy.

Herefordshire Council is currently looking for sites to accommodate a significant number of new homes as well as land for employment as part of a review of its Local Plan Core Strategy (LPCS) which was adopted in 2015.

The council has invited all landowners to submit sites they wish to be considered for development allocation through a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise, which is open until Monday, September 14.

Sites must be at least 0.25 hectares and ideally be close to existing settlements.
Greg Collings, an associate at leading property consultancy Fisher German which has an office in Hereford, is urging landowners to avoid missing out.

He said: “This is a fantastic chance for landowners across Herefordshire to unlock the value of their land and contribute to the future of the area.

“Herefordshire Council will be looking to consider sites right across the area as part of the review of its local plan, so it’s important for landowners looking to capitalise on their land’s potential to make themselves heard.

“For a site to be considered for potential allocation it must be at least 0.25 hectares and preferably be close to existing homes or businesses, however any land should be seen as an opportunity and shouldn’t be dismissed by the owner.

“We would encourage landowners to take professional advice to make sure they make the most of this opportunity.

“Often, landowners do not realise the development potential of their land and what can be achieved or indeed how to maximise its value.

“Fisher German can offer landowners a free consultation to help them understand the potential of their land.

“The call for sites deadline is just weeks away, so it is important that landowners act now to put themselves in the best possible position.”
