Sharp Relocates UK Headquarters to Leeds’ South Central Development

Leading technology company Sharp has relocated its UK headquarters to Leeds’ South Central building after agreeing a 10-year lease.

The business has taken 10,200 sq ft on the first floor at the refurbished office building on Global Avenue, Millshaw, relocating from its previous base in East Ardsley, Wakefield.  Almost 100 employees will be based at the new Leeds headquarters, which combines a flagship technology showroom with a modern, collaborative workplace designed to bring together employees, clients and partners.  The lease includes a tenant break option after five years.

CBRE acted on behalf of Sharp in the acquisition, with CBRE and Knight Frank acting jointly for the landlord, Shelborn.

Sharp selected South Central following a search for high-quality, out-of-town office accommodation that could support its long-term operational requirements, with strong employee amenities, excellent connectivity and generous on-site parking.

Located close to Junction 1 of the M621 and the wider motorway network, South Central also benefits from extensive on-site facilities including a café, gym, cycle storage, showers and EV charging points, together with one of the strongest car parking ratios in the Leeds office market.  South Central is also close to the White Rose Shopping Centre and the imminent new White Rose train station.

Charles Parkinson, Director at CBRE said:

“Sharp had a clear brief. It wanted a modern headquarters that would provide a high-quality working environment while remaining easily accessible for employees, clients, partners and visitors. South Central stood out because it combines excellent connectivity with the quality of accommodation and workplace amenities that businesses are increasingly looking for when making long-term property decisions.

“The move gives Sharp a future-proofed headquarters in a well-established business location and reflects the continued demand we’re seeing for best-in-class out-of-town office space that genuinely supports employee experience.”

Mark Rabinowitz, Director, Shelborn said:

“We’re pleased to welcome Sharp to South Central. Securing a business of Sharp’s calibre demonstrates the continued appeal of high-quality office space that offers occupiers excellent accessibility, strong environmental credentials and facilities that help attract and retain talent.

“This letting represents another positive milestone for South Central as we continue to attract businesses seeking modern, well-connected workspace in the Leeds market.”

South Central offers circa 75,000 sq ft of refurbished office accommodation across a landscaped business park approximately three miles south of Leeds city centre. The building has undergone extensive refurbishment and provides an EPC A rating, alongside energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, renewable electricity sourcing and enhanced wellbeing facilities.

Sharp joins a growing roster of occupiers including Inseego, Keepmoat and AON.  Following this deal the building is now 52% let.
