North East engineering company JK Lifting Equipment is strengthening its team with two new appointments in response to the North East’s growing marine and renewables sector.

In June, the company, originally named John Kesson Lifting, celebrated a successful first year since its buy-out in 2019 by managing director James Bright. Within its inaugural year, JK Lifting welcomed five key appointments, underwent a name change and rebrand as well as significant investment in training and technology.

Following growing demand in the marine and renewables sectors, and increased activity with key customers, the company has further expanded its growing team, bringing together 35-years of experience within the lifting and engineering sector, with specialist talent.

Scott Hale, a testing and inspection engineer aged 27 and Jack Danielson, a test engineer aged 22 are the latest this year to join the firm, based at Walker Road, Newcastle, which is recognised for its engineering excellence, innovative solutions and collaborative working relationships.

With specialist skills ranging from site rigging and load testing, mobilisation, demobilisation and project management, Scott brings with him a wealth of experience in the offshore, marine and renewables sectors. His technical expertise has allowed the company to further develop and expand its offer and projects within these growing marine engineering markets.

Alongside Scott, the appointment of Jack has enabled JK Lifting to invest in the next generation of engineers. As a qualified welder and NDT inspector, Jack brings with him specialist expertise to support the team in designing and manufacturing bespoke lifting solutions in collaboration with clients across the region, using the latest engineering innovations.

Investing in talent to support the experienced team will increase the company’s flexibility to cater for numerous projects within the region’s marine and renewable sector. JK Lifting supports many of the North East’s most significant construction, manufacturing, engineering, marine, renewable and offshore firms, helping them lift large and complex goods. JK Lifting also carries out inspections to ensure equipment is legally safe and compliant.

Commenting on the new appointments, managing director James Bright, said; “We are seeing growth in the North East and we can also see further opportunity, but to enable us to move forward, we have needed to expand the engineering team. Bringing onboard additional specialist engineering skills and expertise helps us to ensure we can provide the very latest in engineering design solutions.

“I believe our continued focus on customer service during this time demonstrates our business ethos, which is to find engineering solutions to problems. Our team has stepped up to the challenge, and the acquisition of new customers has allowed us to appoint both Scott and Jack. Their appointment is just the start of things to come as continued growth in the sector means we will strengthen the team further with the addition of an experienced test engineer. We are always looking for bespoke engineering experts who can problem solve and challenge the norm.

“The growth we are achieving is down to the hard work of every single team member. We are all incredibly proud of being able to continue to operate and demonstrate growth at this time. We are quietly optimistic about the future for the business. The North East has many opportunities for growth, particularly in the renewable energy sector and with an expanding team we may look further afield in the future.”
