Spiritfilled Success Wins Scottish Parliament Support
The recent gold medal success of Fife whisky bottler Spiritfilled has been recognised by the Scottish Parliament.
The Newburgh-based firm’s Mythical Beasts label achieved global acclaim at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, with its Aberlour 13-year-old single malt, finished in a Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry cask, being voted among the best in the world.
Nearly 550 Scotch whiskies were recognised at the awards in London, and with an impressive 98 points, the Aberlour was one of just six to receive the highest marks this year, its sought-after Gold Outstanding ranking putting it among the best single malts on the market.
Co-founders Russell Spratley and Ross Archer said achieving the competition’s highest distinction was a genuine highlight of their business journey so far, with the Aberlour one of five single malts launched to mark the fifth anniversary of Mythical Beasts.
The achievement has now been recognised by Holyrood, with local MSP Claire Baker lodging a formal motion at the Scottish Parliament which gained cross-party support.
“We were delighted to receive a letter from Claire Baker MSP with details of the motion,” said Mr Spratley.
“We launched Mythical Beasts in 2021, and to have our success at the International Wine & Spirit Competition recognised in a motion lodged in the Scottish Parliament is an incredible honour. The recognition means the world to our team.
“We are deeply grateful to Claire Baker MSP for acknowledging our journey and the passion that drives our team every day. What started as a vision to create exceptional spirits has grown into a business built on craftsmanship, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
“Every award we receive is a reflection of the talented people behind Spiritfilled, our valued partners, and the customers who continue to believe in what we do.
“We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but even more excited about what’s ahead. This recognition motivates us to keep raising the bar, pushing boundaries, and sharing outstanding spirits with customers around the world.”
