SPARBAR ®

London-based Jasvinder “Jazz” Gill is the founder of the boxing, MMA and fitness device company SPARBAR which quickly became a global viral sensation with over 300 million video views. Founded in 2013, the SPARBAR  device offers the innovative concept of simulating a human sparring partner, attracting the attention of renowned athletes and celebrities such as Anthony Joshua, Tyron Woodley, Usher, Anderson ‘Spider’ Silva, Conor McGregor, Kevin Hart, Michael Bisping and Roy Jones Jr.

2020 has brought COVID-19, lockdown and enforced gym closures. What keeps Jazz going and why is SPARBAR able to keep growing? He draws inspiration from how SPARBAR was born and shares his 2020 experience, “I always had a love for boxing. During training, I came across this idea and instantly had the vision to bring this concept to the market. At the start of COVID-19, some doors closed such as gym usage of SPARBAR but other doors opened in terms of additional people working out from home and e-commerce.”

Like every other entrepreneur, he has had his fair share of doubters when he started his business. According to him, people love making predictions on what will or won’t happen when facing a challenge.“Life is like boxing, everyone is just human, and the underdog always has a chance. The need to work out grew stronger as folks sought to stay active, positive and optimistic. We saw a spike in our video views and online sales” says Jazz.

Jazz notes that fitness enthusiasts have a natural fighting spirit in the face of uncertainty and adversity. Across the world, fitness enthusiasts started taking out their excess energy on SPARBAR equipment which is intuitive and available at their homes. Many new SPARBAR users started training with their family members to become physically and mentally fitter. He indicates that, “I am touched by our users’ fighting spirit and inspired to go the extra mile for our users as well.”

As SPARBAR grew, Jazz incorporated new advisers in the Board of Athletic Directors which includes Jackie Atkins, the founder of the Give a Kid a Dream Program and Demee Koch, an advocate for conscious entrepreneurship and social branding. They brought new perspectives and users to SPARBAR as boxing encourages character building, self-confidence and self-improvement among young people. These ambassadors help young people to succeed, to actively create their personal journey, and to take care of and to stand up for themselves.

This is one way that SPARBAR is giving back to its users and society. SPARBAR ® is committed to make boxing and MMA more accessible to everybody from beginners to world champions. At the start of COVID-19, when the family is stuck at home, there is a need to stay fit while maintaining human connections. This is why more users are sharing their SPARBAR videos and social media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram and receiving many shares and likes.

Despite COVID-19, SPARBAR is growing stronger. Jazz notes that, “From the start, we have been blessed with a diverse user base with young people, women, people over 60 years old and professional athletes. They are keen to go beyond a repetitive punchbag and we are already partnering renowned professionals such as Richie Cranny, the creator of the global MMA training program Wimp 2 Warriors, to help create more materials to keep ourselves and our users going.”
