Stockport-based sustainable personal care brand grüum has been named in the 2023 edition of The Sunday Times 100, Britain’s fastest growing private companies, as it takes 47th place.

The league table of the top 100 companies recognises and celebrates the country’s entrepreneurs and their rapid growth. Highlighting organisations for more than two decades, the league has recognised grüum as it sets its goals on expansion again this year, following a period of impressive growth with a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 83% over the past 3 years.

The inclusion into the list and in the top 50 comes after a successful first two quarters of 2023, which saw the personal care brand expand its group offering and take a majority stake in personalised vitamin and supplement supplier Everly Wellness. Taking hold of the direction and strategic growth of the brand, grüum invested a six figure sum and will use the expertise of the four co-founders and their team to build and elevate the supplement brand to be seen as the ‘go to’ choice for consumers looking for a premium vitamin and supplement service that understands and supports their individual needs, through personalised nutritionist-developed plans.

Established in 2016 by four co-owners Simon Leonard, Andy Shaw, Beth Sleigh and George Lagonikas – who met and worked together at Simon’s previous startup – grüum has become known for its sustainable, gender neutral range of personal care products including razors, skincare, haircare, bodycare and dental.

Focusing on offering a core range of low and no waste products, grüum is one of the fastest growing personal care brands in the UK with product award wins across both trade and consumer media, positive customer reviews and sales figures for their plastic-free shampoo bars reaching half a million units last year. The Stockport headquartered brand started out with its core team of four and has reached nearly 40 employees in its six years of business.

Andy Shaw, co-founder of grüum, commented: “We’re thrilled to have been recognised by The Sunday Times 100 and to be amongst such esteemed company. We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and are lucky to have such a fabulous team who’ve helped us get here. We’ve got big plans for the business and while we’ll certainly be celebrating this weekend, it’s straight back to it next week!

“This year has already seen the grüum portfolio expand as we add personalised supplement and vitamin provider Everly into our group.

“Wellness as an industry is only going to continue seeing growth and consumer interest, and sustainable and tailored services like grüum and Everly are where the market is shifting to. We look forward to seeing the continued growth of the grüum group, and continuing to be disruptive players in the health, wellness and personal care categories.”
