Swift progress on the development of revamped studios is music to the ears of a social enterprise team.
Wrexham Sounds will open the doors to its new building in the coming weeks, with a focus on transforming the lives of disadvantaged young people in the region.
Formerly Vic Studios, the not-for-profit organisation has moved from the town’s Hill Street to Rhosrobin, where builders are putting the final touches to the interior of the facility.
Led by Directors Chris Lloyd, Dave Gray and Caroline Richards, and General Manager Olivia Gallagher, work will now begin on installing state-of-the-art equipment and machinery ahead of freelance tutors delivering music-based sessions to children from challenging and socially deprived backgrounds.
Olivia said: “In past weeks we have been busy forging new partnerships and reconnecting with stakeholders and community groups.
“Given the changes we have made behind the scenes and the challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic the priority has been getting everything in place to be in a strong position when Wrexham Sounds ‘goes live’ in the coming weeks.
“The response we’ve had is incredible; so many people are invested in the core services we plan to deliver and are offering support. We are still recruiting freelance tutors and engaging with different sectors so it’s a really exciting time.”
Caroline added: “Behind the scenes we have an excellent team of tradespeople and developers working hard to deliver on the plans and our long-term vision.
“The studio is already looking fantastic and will start to come to life when the layout is finalised, and equipment is installed. It’s all within touching distance and we can’t wait to get started.”
As well as children and teenagers who will be referred to Wrexham Sounds via a range of local agencies and educators there will be sessions for pupils unable to access music lessons at school, plus related activities for toddlers and infants.
