Every year, Woking and Sam Beare Hospice host a fundraising event like no other. To raise money for their amazing cause, individuals sign up to complete a 15ft firewalk. They each take it in turns to face their fears and tread carefully across burning embers, all in aid of the work they do at the hospice.

Not only did many of the Seymours team take part this year, but they were also proud to sponsor the event.

“While many fundraisers are held each year, this firewalk is something really unique we could do as a business and for such a great cause – we thought, why not give it a go!”

Seymours Facing Their Fears For A Great Cause

This is the first year the team at Seymours Estate Agents have taken part in the Woking & Sam Beare charity firewalk, and they just knew they had to be a sponsor as well.

Back in 2018, Woking and Sam Beare Hospice were Seymours’ charity of the year in the Woking area. By then, the team had already raised over £20,000 for them and funded over 375 hours of care. This year, they had multiple members take part in the fundraising event, including people from various branches across Surrey:

  • Kerri Webb – Woking office
  • Brett Foulser – Woking office
  • Spencer Darrington – Woking office
  • Clare Worrall – Horsall office
  • Krisy Ehret – Horsall office
  • Adam Partridge – Burpham office
  • Claire Miles – Guildford office
  • Zo Khan – Woking office

As a result of these 8 amazing individuals taking part and pushing for contributions from – family, friends and colleagues, they managed to raise a staggering £4,339!

All of Woking & Sam Beares’s care is provided free of charge to families who need it. Because of this, every penny raised is vital in helping them deliver the high standards of care they strive for.

Get Involved!

Kerri took part in the event and said that she would actively encourage others to take part.

She said that the host of the event, in particular, “made everyone feel at ease and made the whole event so entertaining and it allowed everyone to have a laugh and enjoy what [they] were doing for the Hospice.”

“I’ve been asked to jump out of planes before, but this was something I felt like I could do to help and get stuck into. It didn’t involve heights and wasn’t as frightening as other events. Although I did have to have a little push from Krisy… it really was mind over matter and was a great thing to do to raise money.”

Not only did Kerri have a great time, but she mentioned how it was “brilliant for team building and getting to know people from other branches.” Along with the rest of the Seymours bunch, she was able to challenge herself for a good cause and face a fear that day.

A Word From Woking & Sam Beare Hospice

Krista Lougher, the challenge events and community fundraiser at the hospice works hard to organise these firewalks and get as many people involved as possible. After the Seymours team took part, Krista wanted to let everyone who had taken part know why it’s such a great opportunity:

“On behalf of myself, the events team and everyone at Woking & Sam Beare Hospices we would like to thank Seymours for not only conquering the coals and doing fabulous fundraising but for also sponsoring the event and helping to make it the success it was. The evening was entertaining and we look forward to the next event.”

It just goes to show what having a little fun outside of your comfort zone can achieve. Hours of care are now being funded thanks to one event and some brilliant, brave members of the Seymours team.
