The Launch of a British Luxury Brand Redefining ‘Tailormade’

MonikaNimmi launches in the UK

MonikaNimmi, a new British luxury fashion brand, launches today with four debut collections, and a business model that challenges almost every assumption the fashion industry has made in the last two decades.

Every garment the brand produces is the only one, and the print on every piece begins as an original hand-painted artwork by co-founder Nimmi Dosanjh. It’s a process that starts on canvas, with paintings developed by hand until each composition is ready to become cloth. The artworks are then translated onto the finest luxury fabrics and made into garments by a UK-based artisan tailor whose craft has been nurtured over generations. The person who buys that piece will be the first person to ever wear it: truly wearable art.

Co-founded by artist Nimmi Dosanjh and stylist Monika Singh Gangotra, MonikaNimmi launches with four debut collections: Hai Mera Dil, Latte Lioness, Maharani and One Love – spanning shirts, coats, trousers, maxi skirts, dresses and more. Each style exists in one version only, across the entire collection.

The business model is deliberately antithetical to the direction most fashion has taken. No mass production, man-made fibers, or manufacturing that creates unnecessary carbon footprints. Every person in the MonikaNimmi supply chain – from fabric sourcing and print production to the artisan tailor who makes each garment – is paid properly for their work. MonikaNimmi was built on a belief that is rare at any level of the market: a genuine desire to see everyone win.

This positions MonikaNimmi squarely in the emerging market for what analysts are increasingly calling “investment dressing” – the growing appetite among high-net-worth consumers for pieces that carry genuine provenance, hold their value and operate outside the seasonal churn. The brand’s own framing captures the commercial logic precisely: these are not seasonal pieces. They are future vintage — designed to be acquired once, worn forever.

The UK luxury market is forecast for continued growth, driven by a consumer shift away from brand recognition towards authenticity, craftsmanship and sustainability. MonikaNimmi’s model – radically scarce, ethically made, artistically led – is designed to meet that demand at its most uncompromising end.

Commenting on the launch, Nimmi says: “Our focus is artistic integrity, the finest fabrics and supreme craftsmanship. I am not interested in finding hacks for speed and profit. We honour the time dedicated to honing the various creative skills that forge our art. People are spending money on luxury fashion. We should all care about who makes our clothes and how. MonikaNimmi instils confidence in the wearer that they’ve invested in real creatives to thrive. “

Monika adds: “We set out to make things we genuinely love, in a way we could feel proud of. The fact that every piece is the only one of its kind felt important to us from the very beginning. We want the wearer to feel free from influence and rooted in their own expression as the true owner of each piece. “

The debut collections are now live on the MonikaNimmi website.
