A hotel in the heart of Warwickshire has seen an unprecedented demand for a new dining experience that was born out of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Coombe Abbey Hotel has seen scores of people still wanting to indulge in the venue’s renowned afternoon tea – even when lockdown was taking place.
This led the Brinklow-based hotel to launch their takeaway afternoon tea to huge success and now it will continue to serve the community.
Since the service first began in June, the venue has taken 559 afternoon tea orders for delivery and collection and they have been for a range of people from couples to 17 orders for a birthday celebration.
Ron Terry, General Manager at the Coombe Abbey Hotel, is thrilled with how the new takeaway service has gone so far.
“Coombe Abbey, like many other businesses, had to adapt and come up with new ideas when the pandemic hit and one of our ideas was the afternoon tea takeaway and it could not have gone better,” he said.
“Our afternoon teas are always a popular choice with guests so it made sense to create the new service, but we could not have expected it to have been so well received.
“They are presented in fantastic carry cases, perfect for any occasion and we have found that people are using them for celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries and even a works leaving do, so we are very capable of catering for large orders.
“We are extremely pleased with how the new service has gone and orders can be made via our brand-new app.”
For those people who want to get out and about, the hotel is now open and has signed up for the Government’s Eat Out To Help Out campaign, offering guests savings on meals which is running until August 31.
Diners can enjoy the campaign discounts for afternoon teas and for dinner, not the Garden Bar menu.
Ron added: “If you haven’t been to Coombe Abbey before or haven’t been for a while, now is the perfect time to come to the hotel with the campaign.
“It’s a chance to save on a meal from our extensive menu, experience what we have to offer and discover the beautiful countryside that surrounds us.”
Orders can be made through the Coombe Abbey website and via the brand-new app, which is available to download through iOS and on Android.
