Advances in vehicle technology are helping drivers become safer on the roads, thanks to features such as collision warning systems, lane departure alerts, and automatic emergency braking. However, many drivers are unclear about how all the technology works, and an increasing reliance on automated systems is making some complacent.

E-Training World’s brand-new Driver Assistance Technologies training module educates drivers on the different forms of vehicle technology, how they work and how they can be used safely. It also reminds drivers that they are still responsible for driving safely.

Graham Hurdle, managing director at E-Training World, comments, “Modern vehicles are increasingly complex. Whilst driver assistance technologies are designed to keep drivers and passengers safe, as well as other drivers, road users and pedestrians, there is growing concern that vehicle technology is becoming an increasing distraction and a collision risk.

No technology should replace your responsibility to drive safely. Drivers must still remain alert and vigilant at all times. Vehicle technology can act as an extra set of eyes looking out for you, but it should never replace a driver’s own observations, concentration and judgement. Our new driver training module explains how these technologies work, but also reminds drivers that just because a vehicle has safety features does not mean the driver is no longer responsible for how they drive.”

E-Training World is the company that pioneered online driver profiling and training. As well as serving some of the largest fleet operators in the UK, they provide branded/white-labelled systems to many of the best-known companies in the fleet sector. These include insurance companies, fleet management specialists, accident management providers, driver training businesses, vehicle rental specialists and other fleet sector suppliers.
