Beverley-based author and coach, Sami Ward, launches three-book series to support parents through mental health crises
East Yorkshire resident and Chaos to Calm founder Sami Ward has released a new three-book series in Beverley to address the critical gap in support for parents of young adults navigating mental health crises. Launched on 10th September 2026, the series includes practical guides and a self-care journal, providing a lifeline for UK families who often feel overlooked by a system that focuses primarily on the patient rather than the caregivers holding everything together.
Sami Ward, who is DBT skills and NLP trained, developed the Chaos to Calm Knowledge Series following years of lived experience supporting her own daughter through emotional dysregulation. Recognising that existing resources rarely address the trauma and isolation felt by parents, the Beverley-based author created the guides she desperately needed during her own family’s most difficult moments. The series features ‘A Real Parent’s Guide to Psychiatric Admission in the UK’ and ‘A Real Parent’s Guide to Emotional Dysregulation’, alongside the journal ‘Dear Diary, WTF…’, which encourages mums to reclaim small steps toward their own wellbeing.
The publication comes at a vital time for the local community and beyond, as families face increasing pressure from long waiting lists and the complexities of the CAMHS system. By sharing her expertise and personal journey, Sami has transformed her platform into a peer-led sanctuary for those navigating crisis calls and psychiatric admissions. A further book addressing ‘The Waiting Gap’ for mental health services is scheduled for release next month, continuing her mission to ensure no parent in East Yorkshire or across the UK has to walk this path alone.
“I’m incredibly proud of this series, and I genuinely believe it will help parents who feel like they’re the only ones holding everything together,” says Sami. “There’s such a need for honest, practical support that doesn’t talk down to parents, and doesn’t pretend this is simple.”
“So many mums have told me they finally feel like someone gets it,” Sami explains. “That’s exactly what these books are for, not to fix everything, but to help parents feel less alone while they find their way through.”
