BSW has acquired the Building and Supply Solutions division of SCA Wood UK, which includes the manufacture and distribution of timber and associated products to the home improvement and builders merchant sectors.
This heralds the beginning of BSW’s growth strategy under the ownership of Endless LLP.

“Through this acquisition, we will deliver a combined package of timber solutions adding to the security of supply for the market.”
Jerry Larsson, President of SCA, commented: “I believe the business will further develop under the ownership of BSW. We will continue to supply raw materials into the UK market via BSW Timber, in addition to our existing Industrial Solutions import and distribution operation.”
The BSW Board looks forward to developing its plans along with the SCA Wood UK team for expansion of the operations and services provided.
BSW was founded in 1848 and its head office remains in the town of Earlston in Berwickshire, Scotland, where the business originated. The BSW Group has six main operating divisions – tree nurseries, forestry management, tree harvesting, sawmilling, biomass energy, and timber processing and distribution – operating as BSW Timber, BSW Energy, Tilhill Forestry, Dick Brothers, Alvic Plastics, Maelor Forest Nurseries, and SCA Wood Building and Supply Solutions UK.
BSW Timber is the largest sawmilling business in the UK, with turnover of c. £370 million and capacity to produce over 1.2 million cubic metres of sawn timber per year. The sawmilling business operates at seven sites across the UK and one in Latvia.
SCA Wood Building and Supply Solutions division is one the largest processors and distributors of timber products in the UK with annual sales in excess of £145 million. The business operates from its headquarters and distribution centre in Stoke-on-Trent, and it has further processing and distribution capability at its three other sites in Melton, Welshpool and Cumbernauld.
Having undertaken a £125 million investment programme over the last 10 years, BSW has advanced sawmilling capability and is vertically integrated in the forestry sector. The business is committed to supporting sustainable forestry with five new trees planted for every tree harvested. The Group’s combined turnover in now in excess of £500 million.
