Small business owner Emma Anderson of Teacher Play Ltd has seen demand for her play-based educational resources rocket after celebrity customers shared their support for the products on social media.

Emma, an assistant headteacher at a Peterborough primary school, who has been teaching for over ten years, set up Teacher Play Ltd in October 2019 to fulfil her dream of running a business that can help children across the UK learn in a fun and purposeful way.

The resources are aimed at accelerating children’s educational journeys and have become increasingly popular during the pandemic. Emma was surprised when celebrities including Rochelle Humes, Ferne McCann and Helen Flanagan discovered Teacher Play’s products for their young children, sharing them on social media with millions of followers, many of whom are parents with young children.

“I was delighted with the likely exposure these posts would have for the business, but I was truly shocked by what a huge impact they had on the business. Within just 24 hours of Rochelle’s post, we’d gained 6000 new followers on Instagram, had over 4000 visitors to our website (as opposed to the usual daily average of around 100) and made £8,000 in sales!”

The resources Teacher Play Ltd have developed teach children key skills in language, reading, writing and numeracy, in a way that actively engages them.

Emma added, “We developed products which make learning for young children fun that can be used not only at home with parents, but in a way that can make it fun for siblings to get involved and play teacher, too.”

“The products are also ideal for use in educational settings. We have many childminders, preschools, reception and primary teachers enjoying using our range of resources. All our products are durable and reusable, which makes them great for these settings or passing on to younger siblings or friends.”

The product range is designed for children between the ages of 1-7 and features reusable and wipeable flashcards, learning mats, home learning packs and decodable phonics books, to support the development of fine motor skills, reading and pre-writing skills.
