Hull-based digital infrastructure specialist, Connexin, has hit a major milestone in connecting its 25,000th customer to continue its journey of becoming the largest alt-net (alternative network) in the North.

The announcement follows Connexin’s recent appointment of two new Tier 1 contractors to accelerate its Full Fibre network expansion with a focus on completing its Hull build by December 2023.

The 25,000th customer, Carrie King, had Connexin Fibre installed this week – taking advantage of a 1000Mbps connection, the Connexin SmartHome App and Wi-Fi 6 Router alongside the various additional benefits Connexin offers with its Fibre service. The milestone was celebrated with a ‘VIP installation’ where Carrie was presented with 12 months of free service to access Connexin’s hyper-fast fibre broadband and a luxury hamper to mark the milestone.

Carrie said: “We’re over the moon with Connexin Fibre – we had been facing years of issues with our previous provider and after regular buffering and blackouts, we knew it was time to switch. The installation was tidy, quick, and easy, plus we’re now saving money on our broadband bill every month which is a nice surprise with everything going on at the minute. A big thanks to the engineers, Amber and the Connexin Team that attended my install!”

Throughout its Full Fibre build, Connexin has invested significantly in its local community, sponsoring a variety of local initiatives and sporting clubs. The company also launched ‘Connexin Cares’, a scheme that funds local charities such as HEYMind, Hull Women’s Aid, Unity in Community, and the Hessle Road Network and has since raised over £12,000.

Alex Yeung, Co-Founder and Deputy CEO at Connexin said:

“It’s fantastic to see such great feedback on the service from our customers. We’re rolling out rapidly and making big moves, connecting our 25,000th customer has been a wonderful team achievement and shows the demand for our service.

This journey is much more than just connecting customers, for Connexin, it’s about investing in our local economy and offering top-tier service alongside the added value of choice in our region.

With many customers preregistered for service, we are rapidly scaling up our build and delivery teams to meet demand. This acceleration means we will complete our Hull build this year whilst in parallel expanding our network footprint into neighbouring rural areas, for example, we just recently connected our first customers in Leven.”
