An expanding accountancy firm in Coventry is branching out once again through the acquisition of a long-standing local practice.

Shah and Co in Widdrington Road has added Bansal and Co to its portfolio – a firm that’s been part of the Coventry business scene for 37 years.

Working across the Midlands and beyond, with its 100-strong client base located from Coventry to Stevenage, the takeover of Bansal and Co broadens Shah and Co’s operations across the region.

The Stoke-based company is to be incorporated into Shah and Co’s burgeoning network of practices, cementing the Shah family’s business as one of the largest medium-sized accountancy firms in the city and its surrounding areas.

As part of the takeover, all of the Bansal and Co employees will become part of the Shah and Co group, which now numbers 24 employees.

Haren Shah, co-founder of Shah and Co, said: “We’ve known Kant Kumar Bansal for 30 years, and with his impending retirement we thought it would be a great way to not only sustain a long-running business that’s part of the furniture in Stoke, but to continue our upward trajectory as a medium sized firm.

“We see Bansal and Co as a perfect match for us and what we try to achieve day-to-day, as general practitioners serving the local community. We’re looking to continue the exceptional service Kant and his staff has been providing over the years, providing a personalised service to our valued clients.”

Haren and his family moved to Coventry in 1973 following the expulsion of Asians from Uganda. He founded the business with his wife, Sonal, in 1985 and has overseen the expansion of the business with the help of his son, Jay.

Shah and Co offer financial services expertise, including advice on mergers, acquisitions and succession planning.

Bansal and Co follow Coventry-based Mistry and Co Accounting and Leicester-based Pinnacle Accountants to be amalgamated into Shah and Co.
