Mega Burger Cheese Slices: Blacksticks Blue

Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses’ is gearing up for this Summer’s outdoor dining and BBQ boom with its new Blacksticks Blue ‘Mega Burger Slices’.

The rural Lancashire-based cheesemaker is launching its first-ever Blacksticks toppers in Waitrose and Spar stores nationally in April, ahead of the much-awaited, post-lockdown BBQ season.

Famed for converting even non-blue cheese lovers into devoted fans, the Mega Burger Cheese Slices deliver Blacksticks Blue’s unmistakably smooth, creamy texture with distinctive blue bite, complete with edible rind. Cut from a whole, handmade cheese, the thick slices are the antidote to ‘plastic’ burger cheese and ooze like a dream.

These indulgent 80mm diameter rounds are thick cut and designed to melt perfectly on meat or vegetarian burgers for the ultimate ooze factor –  they’re also a great option for grilled or picnic sandwiches.

As we dust off the garden furniture and enjoy longer, lighter evenings, food trends suggest summer 2021 is going to be all about elevated, instagrammable home-cooked outdoor dining, with the midweek BBQ poised to explode as people host friends in their humble back gardens.

Due to ongoing social restrictions and the appeal of outdoor entertaining in the wake of the pandemic, BBQs are set to be a top trend this summer. Last year a whopping 100 million BBQs* were reported between April and August, up 44% year-on-year with this trend predicted to continue in summer 2021.

Containing four perfect thick cut rounds per pack, Blacksticks Blue Mega Burger Slices are available in Waitrose and Spar for £3 per pack (RRP) and online through the Butlers letterbox cheese store as part of a Blacksticks Blue BBQ kit.

Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses is a fourth generation family business established in 1932 in rural Lancashire. Butlers combine traditional skills, love and innovation to handmake specialist British hard, blue and soft cheeses with milk from its own herd of cows and goats.

It’s best known for hand making some of Britain’s best-loved cheeses like Blacksticks Blue, Button Mill and Sunday Best, available at supermarkets and independent retailers across the UK and the Butlers online cheese store and letterbox cheese shop. It’s Butlers Larder home-delivery service delivers quality artisan products from small and independent producers to homes across the North West.

Butlers is committed to sustainability. Milk travels just a few miles to the dairy, impacting farm to fork miles significantly and Butlers lead multiple initiatives every year to support the rural Lancashire community. It is the first cheesemaker in the UK to bring a fully recyclable British cheeseboard to market following the development of its single polymer, polyethylene packaging that can be widely recycled as one unit, including the label and barrier.
