Hamilton College Kelpies Run Raises Over £3500 For Charity

Hamilton College’s first attempt at the recent Supernova Kelpies 5k challenge raised more than £3500 for charity.

More than 100 members of the school community participated in the fun run in the shadows of the iconic structures at Helix Park.

The school was represented by each of its houses – Skye, Harris and Lewis – with pupils deciding which charity to run for, with many parents and teachers joining in to contribute to a fantastic atmosphere of teamwork and camaraderie on the night.

Skye raised £1438 for Alzheimer Scotland, Lewis House brought in £1265 for Maggie’s and Save the Children will benefit from the £1080 raised by Harris.

Headteacher Richard Charman was among those taking part and he declared the event a huge success.

“Events like the Supernova 5K remind us of what makes our community so special,” he said.

“Seeing pupils, parents and staff come together – running, walking and supporting one another – was genuinely inspiring.

“To do this while raising funds for three important causes makes it even more meaningful. I’m incredibly proud of everyone who took part.”
