Darren Anderson, General Manager at Holden Kia, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. We really believe in the apprenticeship model and growing our own future talent.

“I think one of the keys to our success is the support of our fully qualified technicians who mentor our apprentices. We’re really grateful to them for investing their time and imparting their knowledge to the next generation of talent.

“We always work closely with East Coast College and ensure that we provide the opportunity for apprentices to undertake real, productive work, rather than menial or basic tasks. We give our apprentices the opportunity to fully apply their knowledge, skills and behaviours on the job.

“We also take part in regular reviews with both the apprentice and ECC as ongoing communication, feedback and support is essential to maintaining a successful partnership. There is no doubt that apprentices play a crucial role in our business.”

East Coast College is the top-ranking apprenticeship provider in East Anglia, offering the highest number of apprenticeships in the area. The College works with approximately 500 employers and has over 700 apprentices. ECC focuses on supporting its main local sectors in automotive, mechanical engineering, offshore energy, construction, tourism, business administration, hospitality and catering, amongst others.

Julia Bates, Deputy Principal for Curriculum and Strategic Partnerships, said: “East Coast College is delighted to present Holden Kia with the award for Norfolk Apprentice Employer of the Year in recognition of their exceptional support and unwavering commitment to their apprentices. Through their tireless efforts and dedication, Holden Kia has consistently demonstrated their commitment to the success and growth of their apprentices. Their unwavering enthusiasm and willingness to assist learners makes their workplace an exceptional environment for growth and development. They go above and beyond to ensure that each apprentice receives the necessary guidance, resources, and mentorship to thrive in their chosen field, helping each student to reach their full potential.”

The college is also continuing to develop its offer across business disciplines including a Chartered Manager Degree level Apprenticeship.
