Children attending a Monkey Music class

Monkey Music, the award-winning music classes for babies and toddlers, is celebrating after being named as the number one children’s music franchise in the UK. From hundreds of entries across every sector, the business has made the ranking in the prestigious Elite Franchise Top 100 (EF100), coming in at an impressive 39th place, competing against huge fast-food brands like Subway. A title the brand can proudly hold throughout 2022.

The EF100, established in 2017 in association with HSBC, is the franchising list to watch. It recognises the sector’s brightest businesses and ranks them according to a broad range of criteria; from their financial performance and heritage, to their contribution to the community and the way they embrace innovation. Founder and CEO of almost 30 years, Angie Coates, is thrilled to see Monkey Music get the recognition it deserves after such a challenging year.

“We’re incredibly proud to have been recognised as the number one children’s music franchise once again this year in the UK and to have finished in the top 50 every year since the EF100 began. It has been a challenging year for our industry, but we have continued to offer our service and to develop and support our UK-wide network of franchise businesses against the odds,” said Angie Coates. “I’m delighted to see that our franchise owners have been recognised for their resilience and commitment – without them and their positivity, camaraderie and determination, we wouldn’t be in such a strong position going forward.

“The EF100 recognises quality and outstanding service – both things that resonate heavily in our ethos and sit at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on being a business that can make a difference to families and their children throughout the UK, supporting them with a safe, empathetic and nurturing environment, where parents, carers and children meet in small groups to enjoy our interactive music classes. Monkey Music is all about sharing precious time together. These unprecedented times have taken their toll on many of our Monkey Music families across the UK and music has helped promote a general sense of wellbeing. We are constantly raising the standards within the children’s music sector and believe this ranking will set us apart once again. It is a welcome boost for the year ahead.”

“We feel that Monkey Music has well and truly earned their place in the Elite Franchise Top 100 list,” said Scott English, Brand Director of Elite Franchise. “This definitive Top 100 ranking shows the crème de la crème of franchisors in the UK. Each year, the ranking becomes more competitive, and this year has been no exception for our panel of industry-leading judges. This year, brands were also judged on any measures they initiated to survive the challenges of the pandemic, along with long-term planning they employed to experience prosperity and growth post-pandemic. Achieving this position is a testament to everything that Monkey Music has achieved – they have consistently demonstrated a gold-standard level of franchising.”

The franchise industry contributes over £17billion to the UK economy and more than 700,000 people are employed in franchising across the country.
