Colliers, a global leader in corporate real estate services, has appointed GMS Group as its partner across Gloucestershire in a second contract win for the security specialist.

GMS is supporting Colliers, which is the managing agent for Gloucester City Council, with security and cleaning services across Eastgate Shopping Centre, King’s Walk Shopping Centre, St Oswald’s Retail Park and King’s Square, all in Gloucester.

The security services to be delivered will include manned guarding services, mobile patrols, opening and locking properties, key-holding and vacant property inspections while the cleaning services will include looking after mall cleaning, public conveniences, service areas and periodic deep cleaning.

GMS, which was appointed by Colliers as its partner for key sites in the West Midlands in 2023, has partnered with commercial cleaning specialist Fidelis, part of React Group plc, to deliver these services.

GMS Commercial Director Lisa Nicholson said: “After completing a rigorous tender process, we are thrilled to take on the provision of security and cleaning services for Colliers in Gloucestershire, building upon the strong relationship we have established in delivering the West Midlands contract and which we hope we can provide a springboard for future opportunities to work together.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Fidelis for the delivery of cleaning services for this contract as they share our values around quality delivery, transparency and looking after employees.

“To give opportunities to new talent we have recruited a number of local people and helped with the cost of funding SIA licences to help those transferring from other sectors.

“The team ethos is already becoming well established, and they are working together to deal with incidents as they occur at the shopping centres. Senior colleagues visited the team recently as part of our recognition system, whereby they were thanked for doing a great job.”

Chris Ryan MBICSc, Director of Fidelis, said: “Fidelis is pleased and excited to be working alongside GMS in support of the Colliers Gloucester contract. Working closely with GMS from the start it was clear our values were aligned, and we were able to bring together our specialisms in our respective fields to collaboratively offer an effective service delivery solution to support Colliers Gloucester. We look forward to working with GMS and Colliers on this fantastic opportunity, as we develop our already great relationship.”

The Gloucestershire contract will build on the success of GMS’s existing partnership with Colliers. The real estate leader appointed GMS as its partner for the West Midlands, covering key sites including Birmingham Wholesale Market, Arena Central, Mercia Park and other shopping centres, car parks and industrial estates.

Colliers Sourcing Manager Stacey Gray Lindsay commented: “We were delighted to award GMS the contract for Gloucestershire after they impressed us during the tender process, allowing us to now build our growing relationship in a new region.

“GMS’s successful delivery of their West Midlands contract has been impressive as their customer service, agile culture and professionalism have surpassed our expectations, a trend we are already seeing in Gloucestershire. The GMS partnership with Fidelis for the delivery of the Gloucestershire contract will provide Colliers with access to additional specialist cleaning services, giving us strong partners to meet our contract requirements.”

GMS, which has its HQ in Tividale, has built a reputation for being an innovative group of security specialist companies, delivering practical solutions based on trust, integrity and reliability through joined-up services. The company employs 500 staff delivering security solutions across the UK for leading brands including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Aston Martin, CEMEX UK, Neovia and Kerry Foods.

Leading on the Colliers partnership in Gloucestershire is National Contracts Director Simon Williams, who has an exceptional track record in the delivery of contracts for high-profile stakeholders. He recently returned to GMS having previously worked for the security specialist for five years until 2022, primarily on its contracts for JLR and the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

The Colliers contract success comes on the back of an extended period of growth for GMS, who recently appointed Dave Williams as Senior Project Engineer to support the commissioning of security systems for new and existing clients on the back of leading fire safety expert Dave Cutts joining the board as non-executive director having worked for JLR for 36 years in security and prevention.

Last year GMS won Apprentice of the Year and Best Marketing Campaign at the 2022 Express & Star Business Awards and was named as one of the UK’s top 50 security companies by leading industry title Infologue for the first time.
