Tempcover CDO Graeme McDermott

Following months of sustained and measurable growth in the face of adverse economic conditions, short-term motor insurance specialist Tempcover has appointed Graeme McDermott to the newly-created role of Chief Data Officer.

Tempcover is the UK’s first InsurTech company and since 2006 has been specialising in short-term vehicle insurance policies that last anywhere between 1-hour and 28-days – offering truly flexible short-term cover for the time drivers actually need, with no long-term commitment or auto-renewals.

Data is at the core of the company’s strategy for sustainable growth, and McDermott was appointed to work closely with the full Tempcover C-Suite to specify all data operations, including data capture, protection, CRM, analytics, conversion and optimisation.

McDermott spent 17 years at the AA rising to the position of Data & Insight Director, before he moved to Addison Lee where he spent the last four years as Chief Data & Analytics Officer. In both roles, he led data monetisation programs.

Commenting on his new appointment, he says: “Tempcover’s speed of operating is refreshing, not only for insurance, but from any industry perspective. The Board has established a clear set of objectives and I look forward to playing my role in optimising the company’s data across the board.”

Tempcover CEO Alan Inskip adds: “Graeme boasts a wealth of industry experience and has developed an unrivalled reputation for his ability to protect and enhance a company’s data assets. This makes him a perfect fit to the Tempcover team, and we welcome his contributions to our growth strategy.”
