Leading creative and communications agency Theobald Fox has held the first ever virtual hotel opening for a new luxury property in Japan, the Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel.

The Tokyu Hotels Group’s new property, which is about 45 minutes from Tokyo by train, offers incredible views of Mount Fuji. The hotel company says the hotel is built around one of Japan’s most important Shinto Shrines called the Mishima Shrine, with strong ties to the Japanese royal family.

Guests can also enjoy activities like paragliding and cruising in the area. Out of the 195 rooms, about 70 per cent offer views of Mount Fuji while the remaining rooms overlook the Mishima town area.

The virtual opening was held last week (July 9th) and was put together by Theobald Fox, a creative agency based in London with a long history of working with some of Japan’s most influential businesses and companies. The event included filmed footage of different areas of the hotel, a question and answer session and interviews from senior members of the Tokyu Hotels Group. The virtual opening was attended by over 95 people, including 30 journalists and tour operators.

Speaking about the virtual event, Masato Iizuka, COO of Tokyu Hotels commented:
“We would have loved to invite you all here, but we can’t, so we’re going to have this virtual opening party to showcase our beautiful hotel. We are so excited about the grand opening of our hotel. We hope to see everybody here soon”.
