Dartford-based Customs Support Group appoints Wes Yardley as new UK&IE operations director

Europe’s leading provider of customs clearance and trade solutions has appointed a vastly-experienced supply chain professional to the key position of UK and IE operations director.

Wes Yardley has been appointed by Dartford-based Customs Support Group (CSG) to the role after a career spanning 25 years in the logistics industry, most recently as European head of customs for CEVA Logistics.

He brings expertise in many key areas including customs operations, brokerage and regulations, freight management, 3PL, warehousing and goods imports.

CSG says Wes’s role will see him leading the delivery of compliant, efficient and scalable customs operations across the region.

Wes said: “Having spent most of my career within customs functions at global logistics providers where customs was often viewed as a ‘back office’ function, the main attraction for me was the opportunity to work in a business where customs is the core focus.

“For me, customs is no longer a value-added service – it is a critical piece of all supply chains and Customs Support Group has the foundations, expertise and ambition to be a leader in this market. I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to that goal.

“I am hoping to bring a strong focus on operational performance. My background has been built on understanding how operations really work, how productivity within customs operations is measured and how small structural improvements can drive significant improvement in results.

“I am particularly passionate about truly understanding our customers’ supply chains and risk profiles to the point our customers view us as an extension of their own teams.

“My ambition is to help build a high-performing, disciplined and customer-focussed operation which sets the benchmark for operational excellence and compliance within the customs sector. I would like our competitors to view the CSG teams as the standard bearers within our market.”

Having led teams through periods of regulatory transition and market disruptions, Wes said he hoped to bring a balanced approach to the role.

“In uncertain times, customers need confidence, consistency and clear guidance from their customs brokers. My experience will allow me to contribute to these expectations, while ensuring we remain agile and reactive to an ever-changing global landscape,” he added.

Wes’s appointment comes as CSG continues with its ambitious UK expansion plans, with Gary Harrold moving to a newly-created, strategic role of trade operations director.

“Due to our ambitious expansion plans for 2026 and beyond, I have asked Gary to focus on some important new developments, priorities and projects that are critical to our evolving strategy. He will develop CSG’s new multi-country proposition and drive our new consultancy and advisory business forward,” added Keiron.

“He will also head up our customer onboarding and projects team and will be responsible for the integration of new companies that are acquired by CSG in UK and Ireland.”
