CEO shortlisted for National Tech Entrepreneur of Year Award
James Cunningham, CEO and Co-founder of Cirencester-based cybersecurity solutions specialist, Core to Cloud, has been shortlisted for Tech Entrepreneur of the Year at the national Go:Tech Awards.
Now in its 5th year, the Go:Tech Awards celebrate businesses and entrepreneurs leading the way in cyber, technology and innovation across the UK with categories highlighting success in areas such as AI and machine learning, and healthcare and fintech.
James Cunningham is one of seven finalists nominated in the Tech Entrepreneur of the Year category having showcased sustainable and significant growth in the business through innovative business strategies and strong commercial performance.
Since it was founded in 2015 by business partners James Cunningham and Mark Liddle, Core to Cloud has been on a course of prudent and ambitious growth with its annual turnover increasing 100% year on year. In the last 12 months, its workforce has almost doubled with the firm’s headquarters now occupying the entire Castle in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. More recently the company expanded into the north with a new office in Dundee, Scotland and opened its first premises overseas in Stockholm, Sweden.
The opening of the Dundee office coincides with Core to Cloud’s plan to host regular training and events for students at the Abertay Cyber Quarter, an £18m cybersecurity research and development centre housed within Abertay University, Dundee to help nurture and grow the next generation of cybersecurity specialists.
Now the number one supplier of sustainable security strategies to over a quarter of the UK’s NHS Trusts, Core to Cloud, under James’ leadership, protects more than 100 organisations in the private and public sector including The University College London, the high street retailer, Fat Face and, global leader in consumer intelligence, GFK. The team is expected to double again this year as Core to Cloud looks to transition from a solutions and technical support provider to a fully managed service provider later this year.
On the shortlisting CEO and Co-Founder, James Cunningham, said: “While this is an individual award, Core to Cloud wouldn’t be where it is today without the hard work and dedication of every member of the team.
“In a short space of time, we have taken an idea and conversation to the heights that we find ourselves now, a trusted market leading source of cybersecurity solutions, protecting some of the biggest companies and organisations in their respected fields. We look forward to attending the awards evening in London in June and meeting all the other finalists too.”
The Go:Tech Awards evening takes place on the 22nd June 2023 at Hilton London Bankside.
