Life-saving donations can now be tracked like an online shopping order
A pioneering new app, “Track Your Impact,” has been launched to transform the way humanitarian aid is delivered and monitored, providing donors with real-time updates on their contributions. Developed by the innovative social enterprise E2G FOOD (Eat-2-Grow), the platform allows users to track their donations, high-protein food bars, as they make their way from production to disaster zones and into the hands of those in need.
This launch arrives at a critical juncture – a recent United Nations report, cited 828 million people go to bed hungry each night, reflecting little progress in reducing starvation since 2016. The Global Hunger Index reveals 42 countries still experience alarming or serious hunger levels.
E2G FOOD, which has already donated nearly 30,000 ready-to-eat food bars to disaster-hit regions across the Middle East, Africa, and the United States, is leveraging technology to provide transparency and give confidence to donors, from individuals to NGOs and corporate sponsors.
Through the Track Your Impact app, donors can trace their contribution like an online delivery, following their FOOD bar’s journey from the factory, in transit, to the end community. For as little as £1.65—the cost of one FOOD bar and less than a cup of coffee—users can make a tangible impact. The app provides real-time updates on local campaigns and creates auditable records of actions and deliveries, ensuring confidence for individuals, NGOs, and large-scale donors alike. Partners receiving donations can even upload images of the FOOD being enjoyed in the community, which are automatically shared with donors.
Pete Henderson, CEO of E2G FOOD and a former BBC cameraman who has witnessed famine and crises across 114 countries, said the app is about more than just delivering food.
“Having seen the devastation that struck communities during crises, I wanted to create a solution that not only saves lives but does so with dignity, transparency, and real impact. Track Your Impact, brings transparency to the donation ecosystem and allows donors to see the journey of their contributions, ensuring that every pound spent makes a tangible difference”
Immediate nutritious solutions
By combining instant nutrition with complete transparency, and on-the-ground economic development programmes, E2G is set to transform how individuals, organisations, and donors tackle the ongoing global hunger crisis.
E2G developed a nutritious – and tasty – ready-to-eat FOOD bar containing 500 calories and 30 grams of protein, equivalent to 4.5 eggs or a chicken breast; almost double the quantity of protein found in traditional high energy biscuits. Each bar has an 18-month shelf life, making it ideal for emergency situations. Global certifications, including FDA approval and halal compliance, mean the bars are suitable for people over five, including vegetarians.
The bars are made with quality ingredients including dates, oats, nuts, and nature’s superfood spirulina – a blue-green microalgae containing key nutrients, is high in protein and maintains a healthy immune system.
Henderson emphasised the long-term vision: “It’s not just about emergency relief. By incorporating spirulina farms into our strategy, we’re empowering communities to grow their own nutrition, create jobs, and build resilience.”
Building local solutions
E2G’s flagship spirulina micro-farm project in Zimbabwe at Gwebi Agricultural College demonstrates the potential to support economic and nutritious growth in communities. Using compact, solar-powered units the farm can produce enough spirulina to feed 500 people daily with 5g of spirulina, the daily recommended allowance. Annually this can improve health outcomes for 150,000 individuals. These microfarms are scalable and:
Empower communities: Create jobs—especially for women and youth—and bolster local enterprise.
Educate the youth: Partnerships with local institutions to teach youth about the importance of nutrition.
Align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Addressing 14 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Utilise minimal resources: Use saline water, reducing reliance on freshwater sources.
Built on arid land: Using inside cultivation tunnels to ensure high-quality spirulina.
