Surf Fans Invited to Share Waves with Top Surfers at Edinburgh’s Hi-Land Fling

Surf fans across Scotland are being offered a rare opportunity to surf alongside elite international surfers as part of a major event returning to Edinburgh this summer.

Taking place across 15th and 16th May, the Hi-Land Fling at Lost Shore Surf Resort will bring together 20 top surfers from around the world, including Olympians, Challenger Series qualifiers, national champions and rising stars, marking one of the strongest international surfing line-ups seen in the UK.

In a unique format, the event will include dedicated public surf sessions on Friday 15th May, where surfers of all levels will have the chance to share the water during select sessions featuring event athletes.

Participants can expect a rare opportunity to surf in the same environment as elite athletes, experience high-performance waves, and gain informal tips and insights.

Confirmed surfers include Camilla Kemp, Tim Elter, Conor Donegan Santos, Lucia Machado, Lauren Sandland, Ben Larg, Gearoid McDaid, Nicolas Paulet, and Alys Barton, one of the first British surfers to secure a full Challenger Series season place through qualification.

Unlike traditional surf competitions, Hi-Land Fling has been designed to open up the sport, giving the public a chance to be part of the experience, not just watch it.

Across the weekend, visitors will be able to watch elite-level competition up close, experience a high-performance showcase session, attend surf film screenings and athlete Q&As, and enjoy live DJs and event entertainment, all free for spectators. Public surf sessions, including the opportunity to share the water during select sessions featuring event athletes, are available to book separately.

The main competition will take place on Saturday 16th May, where athletes will compete for Best Wave and Best Air titles in front of spectators.

The return of Hi-Land Fling builds on the success of last year’s inaugural event and reflects the growing momentum behind surfing in the UK.
