Staff at award-winning security firm Gough and Kelly are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks this September for their chosen charities.
14 eager workers are to take on the 24-mile challenge, which includes summiting Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under twelve hours, to raise money for individual charities close to each member of the team’s heart. Gough and Kelly are getting the fund-raising efforts started by donating £50 to each cause.
A Yorkshire company born and bred, this is the perfect challenge to top up their charity efforts and ethos, which have also seen the company donate towards the cleaning and restoration of forgotten Victoria Cross heroes’ graves as well as supporting York Rescue Boat, First York Boccia and The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.
The causes being supported include Tourette’s Action UK, Cardiac Risk in the Young and the Bexley Wing, Oncology, Ward J96, at St James’ Hospital.
Daniel Peterkin, security team leader at Gough and Kelly, said of his chosen charity “I have chosen to raise money for Tourette’s Action UK due to my son having just received a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome and knowing first-hand the difficulties this syndrome raises for both children and parents. Sadly, there is no government funding towards support for sufferers or families despite TS affecting 1 in 10 people – so it is my aim to help raise much needed funds and hopefully help to raise the profile of TA and the great work that they do!”
Ian Crawford, group operations director, added “We are proud of our team’s enthusiastic and dedicated approach to this challenge. I have no doubt they will train hard and do their best for each charity involved. Hopefully, we can raise enough funds to help each in the amazing and valuable work they do.”
The challenge is set for 26 September 2021.
